HONDA CIVIC SPORTS LAUNCHED IN INDIA

The Honda Civic Sports is primarily about looks. And it really looks good as you can see from the photo here. I will try to get more photos of the Civic Sports soon.

If you ignore the looks which are an improvement on the normal Honda Civic, you are left with pretty much nothing though. All those who were hoping for a 150 or 170 bhp Honda Civic Sport will be disappointed.

The price in Delhi is 12.36 lakh ex-showroom. That is pretty acceptable for almost anyone who has been planning a Civic purchase. So go for it, whats a few thousands here and there!

I am not sure about the color options. The Civic Sport on display at Auto Expo 2008 was in white, and the ones I have seen at dealers are white too. Even the Honda India website talks about white alloy wheels. So is white the only color option? If anyone knows for sure, do let the readers know in the comments.

Okay, so here are the visual changes in the Civic Sport:

Rear and under trunk spoiler

Underspoiler - side and front

Civic Sport badge

White alloy wheels

Okay, that does not sound like much. But believe me, just the spoilers add so much to the look of the Civic. It is not a look that matches up to the Type R design, but it is close.

Do the new skirts added to the car make it more likely that the car would have even less ground clearance and would touch even more potholes?

Well, yes. Unfortunately. On bad roads, I would always advise caution in the Civic. And in the Civic Sport, make that extra caution. It is not an SX4, a fact you would remember every time you go around a corner - and there are compromises to be made.

But is the lesser ground clearance a deal-breaker? No. Just be careful.

ARCHERY:Korea,the mordern master

The Korean women set a world and Olympic record on the way to winning the Gold medal in yesterdays team event continuing their domination of women’s archery and making history by winning their sixth consecutive Olympic Gold medal at the Olympic Green Archery field. Korea led China by two points at the conclusion of the first end and then continued to increase their lead throughout the remainder of the final winning the game by 224 vs 215. With this win the Korean team entered the top 10 of longest winning streaks in any Olympic team event. The longest winning streaks are held in Athletics by the US Mens 4x100 relay and the US Men’s Eight in rowing, which both won eight times in a row between 1920 and 1956.

Olympics:Phelps wins 9th career Olympic gold in swimming

BEIJING (AP) — Michael Phelps put on another dominating performance at the Beijing Olympics, winning the 200-meter freestyle Tuesday with a third straight world record.

The American's ninth career gold medal tied him with Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis, Paavo Nurmi and Larysa Latynina for the most in Olympic history.

Racing out of lane six, Phelps quickly surged to the lead and led by a full body length halfway through the second of four laps. Phelps was nearly two seconds ahead of the field when he touched in 1 minute, 42.96 seconds, breaking the mark 1:43.86 he set at last year's world championships.

"I just wanted to be out at the 50-meter point and that's where I was," Phelps said. "I was in open water and it was difficult for the other guys to see me."

Park Tae-hwan of South Korea took the silver in 1:44.85, touching while Phelps was already looking at the scoreboard. Peter Vanderkaay, one of Phelps' training partners, gave the U.S. another medal by claiming the bronze in 1:45.14.

"I knew Park is strong in the last 50 meters," Phelps said of the 400 free gold medalist, "so I knew I had to be fast and concentrated."

Phelps is now 3-for-3 in Beijing, keeping him on course to beat Spitz's 36-year-old record of seven golds in a single Olympics. He opened with a world record in the 400 individual medley, then led off a victory in the 4x100 free relay.

"Phelps swam so fast," Park said of the 200 free. "It is my honor to compete with him."

Phelps will go for his fourth medal and 10th overall on Wednesday in the 200 butterfly, yet another event in which he holds the world record. He qualified for the final an Olympic-record time of 1:53.70, tying his time from the preliminaries.

Aaron Peirsol won the men's 100 backstroke, defending his title with a world-record time and extending the United States' dominance of the event.

Peirsol finished in 52.54, lowering his old mark of 52.89 set at last month's U.S. trials.

Teammate Matt Grevers earned the silver in 53.11. Arkady Vyatchanin of Russia and Hayden Stoeckel of Australia tied for the bronze in 53.18.

The Americans have won the men's 100 back at four consecutive Olympics, with Peirsol taking the title at the 2004 Athens Games in a time that was 0.17 seconds slower.

Natalie Coughlin won the 100 backstroke, becoming the first woman to ever defend her title in the event. She finished in 58.96 seconds, briefly going under world-record pace at the 50.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet," Coughlin said. "I knew when I saw the '1' by my name, because at first I thought I saw the clock wrong. It's a great feeling."

World record holder Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe earned the silver in 59.19. Margaret Hoelzer of the United States took the bronze in 59.34. Six of the eight finalists swam under 1 minute.

Coughlin earned her second medal of the Beijing Games, having won a silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay. Coventry was the silver medalist in the 400 individual medley.

In the semifinals of the women's 200 free, Katie Hoff advanced with the second-fastest time of 1:57.01. The 19-year-old American, who's like a little sister to Phelps, is still trying to win her first gold medal after settling for bronze and silver in her first two events. She still has three more individual races, plus a relay, to make up for that void.

Sara Isakovic of Slovenia was the top qualifier at 1:56.50

RObot:super star Rajnikanth upcoming movie

Robot is a forthcoming science-fiction film being directed by S. Shankar, who with Robot, directs his tenth feature film. Despite several rumours regarding the lead actors, Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai have been formally announced to portray the title role. The film is expected to cost 120 crores and is set to contest with Kamal Haasan's film, Marmayogi, in a race to become India's most expensive film to date.
Development
After completing Nayak: The Real Hero in 2001, Shankar announced a project with Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta titled Robo. to be produced by the now-defunct production company Media Dreams.Despite, announcing the project, due to a lack of backing the project was cancelled and Shankar began work on Boys. In 2005, Shankar made another project, Anniyan, this was mistaken to be the renamed title for Robot.
After a stupendous response from his previous project, Sivaji: The Boss, there were speculations regarding Shankar's next film. However Shankar stated that he was going to be involved with his production house, S Pictures for 3 months. Several websites claimed that he was set to take his maiden Telugu language film with Chiranjeevi, while others claimed that it was set to be with Mahesh Babu.Ajith Kumar was also considered for the film and several sources reported this news as confirmed but Kumar claimed that he wasn't yet approached. In July 2007, Shahrukh Khan was signed on to be the male lead of Robot and also the producer of the film. However, in October 2007, Shah Rukh Khan and Shankar officially called off the project. Khan commented that the script was "half-baked" and "dull" in comparison to his other films at the time. Shankar commented that Rajnikanth had commented on Shankar being a "trusted" and "excellent" script writer. Thus the two weren't able to compromise on one another opinions.
After further indications that either Ajith Kumar and Aamir Khan were set to sign up for the film, reports surfaced in early January 2008, that Rajnikanth has been roped in for the project.] The movie will be made at a cost of Rs. 120 Crores. Later in January 2008, Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia agreed to become the producers of Robot with Karunamoorthy, the Chairman of Ayngaran International saying that:
" We are very happy to announce that superstar Rajnikanth, Shankar along with A. R. Rahman are coming together again to make Robot, which is going to be made in Tamil and would be dubbed into Hindi, Telugu and English."
The film is unlikely to keep its name, Robot, due to the English title in Tamil Nadu, whose government present tax exemption to films with Tamil titles. Likely titles suggested to proceed Robot as the title, include Iyandiran or Iyandira, both literal translations of Robot to Tamil. The film's scripting is going on as told by Shankar in two interviews. It was subsequently announced that all those who have been committed for Robot should sign an agreement accepting that they will not commit themselves to any other project for the next two years of its production, with an exemption to the female lead, Aishwarya Rai.

Bachna Ae Haseeno:Ranbir,katrina kaif,Bipasa,deepika padukone,minissha

After a bad start as a gullible lover in Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor hopes to change his image as well as box office dynamics with his new avatar of a cool, trendy guy in Bachna Ae Haseeno, which releases on Friday.

Inspired a little by Ranbir's grandfather Raj Kapoor's acclaimed Mera Naam Joker, it also has some shades of Dev Anand's Teen Deviyan.

The film shows the journey of a man from age 18 to 30 and the relationships in his life. Ranbir will be seen serenading three Bollywood beauties—Minissha Lamba, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu. Siddharth Anand, who earlier made Salaam Namaste, has directed the love saga.

Bachna Ae Haseeno revolves around a young guy called Raj (Ranbir), who is a Casanova. Who can blame him for falling in love as many times as love is fortunate enough to find him! It's not his fault that he's a heartbreaker, it's in his DNA.

Raj meets three lovely ladies at different times in his life and each of them teaches him a little bit about love and life in her own way.

As a teenager Raj falls in love with small town girl Mahi (Minissha), who believes she has met her soul mate. But she has to face heartbreak when Raj moves on without her.

Then comes gorgeous and confident Radhika (Bipasha). Despite being older and experienced, she falls for Raj's charm but before she can even share her feelings, Raj dumps her, too.

After that Raj meets NRI Gayatri (Deepika), who lives in Sydney. Aware of Raj's philandering ways, Gayatri decides to teach him a lesson. She makes him fall in love with her, but is unable to resist his charming ways.

The cash register bells have not really been ringing for Yash Raj Films. The banner is reeling under five flops in a row and one can only hope Bachna Ae Haseeno changes producer Aditya Chopra's luck at the box office.

Shot at exotic locales in Australia, Italy and Switzerland, the film's music is already topping the charts. Just like Yash Raj Films' other ventures, there is no dearth of grandeur, glamour and glitz in Bachna Ae Haseeno
